Blue Ray DVDs: The Latest Form of Optical Data Storage

Blue Ray DVDs is the way the next generation is adopting as a computer storage technology. Gone are the times when optical discs were the latest way of storing data.  People have switched to Blue Ray DVD’s not only for their storage needs but also for their entertainment options like watching movies and listening to music.

To understand what makes Blue Ray technology so popular, it is important to know more about how it is created? Blue Ray technology was created to remove the drawbacks of low quality and poor resolution that affected the recording of data and information on the available recording media.

The Blue Ray Disk association (BDA) consisted of some of the most important people from the field of electronics, computers and media and covered around 180 companies. The technology that emerged as a result of collaboration of these great minds was the Blue Ray DVD and was able to store five times more data than the conventional CD’s and DVD’s, with mush higher quality and better resolution.

The technology got its name because instead of the usual red laser rays that were used to record data on the storage media, it used blue laser rays for the same purpose. The fact that blue laser rays are of a shorter wavelength than red laser rays make it possible to store more data into the same amount of disk space. Moreover, the technology is so flexible that it is possible to make blu-ray discs compatible with all the other existing technologies.
