CD R, although a simple looking disc with various kinds of colors shining over the lower surface, is not as simple and fancy as it looks. Although this technology is something complicated and interesting, it has a lot of depth and potential to it that what meets the eye. Moreover, in the days of the CD, when the DVD and later technologies didn’t come out well among the consumers, there was the idea of consumers being allowed to make their own collection of CD Rs in the comfort of their homes. There is some different among various kinds of CDs, which the common man who uses it would do better to know about. For example, the way the information is stored, or the longevity, or the flexibility of a disc is different in different kinds.
The initial technology was the simple CD Rom and the audio CD which were used by companies and studios for storing their data in the factory machinery and selling them in the commercial market. This kind of disc is written over by a glass mould. However, around the end of the 1980’s Sony and Phillips came out with the technology what allowed the home users and practically anyone with a proper disc writer to store their collection of data on CDs and eventually have their own set of discs. These were called the CD Rs. The information on them is written differently, through the use of laser.
Although it is still not confirmed which of these types are more reliable, the CD R has survived!
