Mythic and BioWare Merge

EA’s two best RPG and MMO game developers, BioWare and Mythic Entertainment are being merged and the collaboration will be led by BioWare’s co-founder Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk will act as Group Creative Officer. The long standing Mythic Entertainment boss, Mark Jacobs will leave the EA-owned company and Mythic co-founder Rob Denton will step up as the General Manager of Mythic. He will report directly to Muzukya. The merger will affect Mythic Entertainment’s business and BioWare’s operations will remain unchanged.

EA had purchased Mythic Entertainment in 2006 and us best known for the recent game Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. On the other side, BioWare was founded in 1995 and are responsible for blockbusters like Star Wars, and Mass Effect. They joined hands with EA in 2007.

Mark Jacobs, the current General Manager of Mythic Entertainment will leave the EA-owned company on June 23. “We thank Mark for his contributions at Mythic and wish him the very best going forward”, reacted EA at the press conference. Mark played a major role throughout his career at Mythic and acted as the Lead Designed of WAR.

Mythic retains their strong technical team led by co-founder of Mythic, Rob Denton. Rob had previously acted as the COO of the company. He was responsible for all day-to-day management of the studio including development monitoring and such operations. He and his team played a critical role in the development of Dark Age of Camelot.

The union of these two award winning game studios is expected to make it tough for their competent companies.
