The newest game by Activision, PROTOTYPE pushed The Sims 3 off the número uno position in the UK. In just the second week of release, the game achieved this magnificent feat, according to the Chart-Track of GfK. The game was critically appreciated for its outstanding graphics and thrilling gameplay. Prototype was released on Steam as well as in retail stores. The game topped the sales list of Steam beating Empire-Total war and Left for Dead (Game of the Year Edition).
The sales of EA’s The Sims 3 saw a drop of 49% when the title slipped to number two in all formats (PC, Wii, and PS3). Sony’s late entry, Ghostbusters managed to break into the top 5 in its first week of release. The game released only for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 is placed at fourth position. A new marketing strategy of cutting price saw Call of Duty: World at War get back to number five ahead of THQ’s new release, Red Faction: Guerilla. Red Faction suffered a sales dip of 46% in its second week. UFC 2009: Undisputed is ranked at seven. EA’s Grand Slam Tennis slammed into the list with 47% sales boost pushing in into the top 10.
